Shimla| Uttar Pradesh’s Bhima army leader Chandrashekhar Azad Ravan has been arrested by UP Special Task Force from Dalhousie. Uttar Pradesh Police has accused Chandrashekhar for cate violence in Saharanpur in UP.
The whole issue is as follows. After massive win in assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, BJP government was formed under the leadership of Yogi Adityanath. During the present Yogi regime, the law and order situation in Uttar Pradesh has been deteriorating day by day. The rule of goons and miscreants started running in the place of that of police.
In the meanwhile, a long drawn caste violence broke-out between Dalits and Rajput community in the Saharanpur district leading to deaths, arson and torching of Dalit houses. Dalit men and women were beaten up and dalit girls were molested.
When the news of the Saharanpur incident emerged, the members of Bhim Army went to Saharanpur and put up relief camps in Dalit locality. This action of Bhim Army didn’t go well with the Yogi government. A number charges were drawn up against the chief of Bhim Army Chandrashekhar and a case of filled.
Just a few days ago, Bhim Sena organized a massive rally at Jantar Mantar, Delhi, protesting caste-based violence in Saharanpur. The protest was led by Chandrashekhar Azad. The massive number of people exceeding 50 thousand appeared to have unnerved the BJP government.
After the arrest of Chandrasekhar, it is to be seen how Bhima army will continue its fight for the rights of Dalits.
